Before placing baits clean spilled food and sugary residue so baits become the most attractive option and not competing food sources. Always wipe counters and vacuum floors before putting down baits so ants choose the bait over crumbs. Mark bait locations and leave them in place for the full exposure period rather than checking daily and removing them at the first sign of fewer ants, because that incomplete exposure often requires follow up treatment.
