Common mistakes include assuming the coil is fine because the relay hums which can mislead you into skipping a coil resistance check; measure coil resistance anyway to be certain and do not rely on sound alone. Another frequent error is testing continuity with power applied which risks shorting the system and damaging electronics; always test resistance and continuity with power removed and then verify switching behavior with controlled power and proper safety. A third issue is failing to check the driver circuit on the control board when the relay is not energizing; confirm that the control output is supplying the correct coil voltage when commanded because a bad driver transistor or fuse can make the relay appear faulty when the board is the problem.
