Another issue is excessive dust and slurry that clogs vents and creates cleanup headaches so position a shop vacuum to capture dust at the cut, or use a wet cutting method and sponge immediately to control residue. A third concern is misaligned openings because marks shifted during installation so always transfer reference marks from the underlayment to the tile and recheck before cutting, using the vent grille as a template to verify orientation.
