Spot heat treatment raises interior wood temperatures to lethal levels and kills drywood termites without full-structure tenting.

Always select a professional heat applicator who understands wood science, can calculate heat distribution, and carries liability coverage for potential finish damage.

Common mistakes include failing to verify internal wood temperatures which leads to treatment failure; fix this by using properly placed, calibrated probes and logging data until you are confident the lethal profile was reached. Another issue is overheating finishes and causing blistering or delamination; prevent that by ramping temperature slowly, monitoring surface and sub surface readings, and protecting vulnerable materials with insulation or low conductive shields. A third problem is treating damp or high moisture wood which absorbs heat and prevents core temperatures from rising; address this by measuring moisture content, drying the zone if necessary, or increasing dwell time and using higher energy inputs with caution.
